York Chan, CHFM, CHC, SASHE has amassed 35 years of progressive management experience in health facilities operations. Presently, he is the administrator of facilities for Advocate Health Care, overseeing facilities operations for the system of 12 acute care hospitals in Illinois. He served as a board member of the American Society for Healthcare Engineering (ASHE) from 2008 through 2012. York is a Certified Healthcare Facilities Manager as well as a Certified Healthcare Constructor. York has served as faculty for the Joint Commission Resources and taught the "Environment of Care Base Camp" and “Exploring the Life Safety Chapter” programs. He has also conducted custom education sessions for the Department of Defense, Veterans Administration, and numerous health care organizations throughout the United States. He has also served as faculty for the Joint Commission Satellite Network (JCSN) and the Joint Commission Resources Quality and Safety Network teaching internet, satellite, and web-based environment of care programs.

David L. Stymiest, PE, CHFM, CHSP, FASHE

With 43 years of professional experience, David is a Registered PE, an AHA Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM), a Certified Healthcare Safety Professional (CHSP), and a Fellow of ASHE. Before joining SSR, he was Senior Engineer for a 12-hospital healthcare system. David is presently an ASHE Faculty member, and has been a member of and has chaired task forces for the ASHE Advocacy Advisory Committee and the ASHE Education Committee. He is also a Just Ask ASHE Team member. He regularly assists hospitals in complying with The Joint Commission’s EOC requirements and maintaining constant survey readiness. David is an accomplished speaker, trainer, and author with considerable national exposure and has regularly spoken to several dozen state and national audiences for 22 years. He has been published over 50 times. David is a senior consultant and thought leader responsible for SSR’s Compliance and Facility Management activities.
Tim Staley, PE, CEM, LEED AP, CHFM, CHC, SASHE

Tim Staley, PE, LEED AP, CHFM, CHC, SASHE has more than 26 years of experience in facility engineering within the medical, higher education, institutional, commercial, and industrial sectors. He holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Louisiana Tech University. Tim is a registered professional engineer in multiple states and his experience includes energy consulting, design consulting, commissioning, sustainability, energy procurement, facilities maintenance, HVAC construction, performance contracting, and project management. He is a Certified Energy Manager, Certified Healthcare Constructor, Certified Healthcare Facility Manager, a LEED® AP, and a Senior Member of ASHE (SASHE).
Tim began his career in the engineering department of a large healthcare facility, resulting in a passion for owner advocacy and energy efficiency that has lasted throughout his career. Tim has served on the board of multiple commissioning organizations, served on the board of the Arkansas Association for Healthcare Engineers, chaired the ASHE Energy Management Task Force, assisted with the ASHE Sustainability task force, is a contributing author to the ASHE Healthcare Facility Commissioning Handbook, serves as faculty for a number of ASHE educational programs, currently serves on the board of directors for the Health Care Institute, and has provided expert witness testimony in several utility rate cases.
