Terry Parish, SASHE, CHFM, CHC, CHSP, has worked in the health care field for over 30 years, is currently the corporate director of regulatory compliance with Columbus Regional Healthcare System in Columbus, Ga., and is a former surveyor with the Joint Commission as a life safety code specialist surveyor. Terry has provided consulting services in the areas of the environment of care, life safety assessments, statement of conditions, plans review, interim life safety, and infection control during construction to numerous health care facilities. He has also provided education and training to a variety of health care organizations and health care contractors. Terry has been an ASHE member for 13 years and serves on the faculty for the ASHE Certified Healthcare Constructor Exam Review Course. He has served as a board member of the Georgia Society for Hospital Engineers for seven years, was president of the organization in 2003, and was nominated Engineer of the Year in 2002. Terry earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration in 2007 from Troy University.

David L. Stymiest, PE, CHFM, CHSP, FASHE​​​​

​​With 43 years of professional experience, David is a Registered PE, an AHA Certified Healthcare Facility Manager (CHFM), a Certified Healthcare Safety Professional (CHSP), and a Fellow of ASHE. Before joining SSR, he was Senior Engineer for a 12-hospital healthcare system. David is presently an ASHE Faculty member, and has been a member of and has chaired task forces for the ASHE Advocacy Advisory Committee and the ASHE Education Committee. He is also a Just Ask ASHE Team member. He regularly assists hospitals in complying with The Joint Commission’s EOC requirements and maintaining constant survey readiness. David is an accomplished speaker, trainer, and author with considerable national exposure and has regularly spoken to several dozen state and national audiences for 22 years. He has been published over 50 times. David is a senior consultant and thought leader responsible for SSR’s Compliance and Facility Management activities.

Gordon D. Burrill, P.Eng., FASHE, CHFM, CHC

Gordon D. Burrill, P.Eng., CCHFM, FASHE, CHFM, CHC, spent 13 years as a design engineer, followed by seven years as the director of the engineering for New Brunswick Health Authority in Canada before beginning work at Teegor Consulting Inc. in August 2004. He is a Registered Professional Engineer with over 25 years of experience in the design, construction, operations, and maintenance of health care facilities. He has served as a member of the Standing Committee on Building and Plumbing Systems to the Canadian Commission on Building and Fire Codes; is a member of the Canadian Society for Civil Engineering; a member of the National Fire Protection Association’s Health Care Section; a member of two technical committees and the correlating committee for NFPA 99: Health Care Facilities Code; a former Council Member of the International Federation for Hospital Engineers; and former president of the Canadian Healthcare Engineering Society. Gordon is currently the chair of the Canadian Standards Association’s Technical Committee for Health Care Facility Engineering and Physical Plant; chair of their Technical Subcommittee for Infection Control during Construction, Renovation, or Maintenance of Health Care Facilities; chair of their Technical Subcommittee for Medical Gas Pipeline Systems and vice-chair of their Technical Subcommittee for Design and Construction of Canadian Healthcare Facilities.
